SWV's upcoming reality Show on WeTV

swv Taj George is about to embark on her second reality show after her stint on TV One's "I Married A Baller".  SWV (pictured above this weekend at the Essence Festival) announced during their mainstage performance at the Superdome that WE tv is profiling their make-it-or-break-it comeback through a new unscripted series. “SWV - Sisters With Voices” will join WE tv’s successful slate of unscripted programming in early 2014 with six, one-hour episodes from Entertainment One Television. “The journey of SWV is the kind of real and personal comeback story our viewers love to see,” said Lauren Gellert, WE tv’s senior vice president of original production and development. “These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so – at times – is the dramaand tension. We can’t wait to present this fresh, new series to WE tv viewers.” The background: After a string of hit songs in the 1990s (we ALL still know the words to "Weak" like the back of our hands), the ladies of SWV – Cheryl “Coko” Clemons, Leanne “Lelee” Lyons and Tamara “Taj” Johnson – were on top of the music world. Then, at the height of their s uccess, in-fighting and drama lead to their demise. After a 15-year separation the trio reunited in an attempt to recapture their fame at the top of the music charts. According to the press release, the series will follow SWV as they write new music, tour and finally face the issues that ended their friendship and their careers once before. We'll be watching...will you? - TheYBF.com

HHE New Music interview with Q.U.A.Z.

HHE New Music: Quaz [@QuazMusic] ‘I’m Guud’ [Audio x Interview]

V.A.’s upcoming indie artist Quaz is in another class with his music.
mosaic
Show love to the underground, and that’s exactly what we will do from time to time here at Hip Hop Enquirer. Today, we introduce you to rap artist Quaz, originally from Virginia Beach, presently residing in Charlotte, N.C. Quaz’s latest album release ‘Mosaic‘ is sure to quench your indie artist hip hop thirst. The up beat project includes tracks like ‘I’m Gudd’‘Million Bucks’, and ‘Black Out’. Quaz’s swift way of spitting, paired with his realistic perceptions on life and those around him, really stands out on this project. Hip Hop Enquirer took a few minutes out to ask Quaz some questions. The young indendent emcee had some interesting things to say. Check them out below:
HHE: Describe Q.U.A.Z. music in 3 words only.
Quaz: Inspiring, Southern, Lyricism
HHE: What do you have that other emcees don’t have?
Quaz: I have a way of capturing a moment in time with my music. I think i can bottle a life style or a scene with every 4 min song i put out. Not only am i
lyrical but I can evoke emotion as well. My greatest asset as an EMCEE however would be my diversity. I’m not a trapper, or just some monologue lyricist, or just a story-teller. I can do a lot of things well and I am not afraid to be diff.
HHE: Who is the hottest rapper out right now and why?
Quaz: Well when asked this question i first thought ME OF COURSE, LOL. Seriously i did, but taking my self out of the equation i would have to give hottest rapper out title to Drake. He has a way of talking about things we all can and or want to relate to. Everyone wants to feel like they started from the bottom on the road to success. Everyone wants to feel like they have had the same friends riding with them for years. These things don’t have to be true for you to relate, and they have nothing to do with race, socio-economic status, or gender. These are concepts that ya grandfather could relate to.
HHE: What’s the independent grind like, coming out of VA. How is the underground industry?
Quaz: The Independent grind….(SIGH). lol. Ok i love it because it’s creating the stories i can tell my kids about. The 2 hour road trips in a car with 3 guys just to perform in front of 200 people for 10 mins. The market is just so flooded with people who no longer wanna be fans but rappers them selves you have
to really work hard to stand out. There are a lot of snakes as well but i have a good team around me so I don’t give the negative folks much thought. Now coming outta VA things are…..well diff. Guys in the 757 area seem a bit confused on Identity. Are we NY or are we ATL? People in VA don’t support independent music as much as they do in Charlotte (where i currently reside) but because i rep VA to the fullest i do get love for that.
HHE: How do you want fans and future fans to keep up with you?
Quaz: The best way to keep up with me is going to be thru my website quazmusic.com and twitter @quazmusic Im revamping the website to focus more on my V-logs so that i can interact with ppl thru visual media.
You heard it here first. Check out Quaz’s hot single ‘I’m Gudd’. Then go over to iTunes and support a really talented indie artist, by purchasing – The Mosaic.

Congradulations to JaLon Blac and Tia Michelle's nominations

The screams in the office was ear wrenching when both Tia Michelle and JaLon Blac checked the GA Music Award website noticing their names on the site. They both have albums released online and have been performing at multiple shows, radio interviews and more!

Tavaras"JaLon"
McCarthy attended Ft. Valley St University for 2 1/2 years, but after the birth of his daughter in 2000, he dropped out of school and began working a 9 to 5 as surgical technician, but he always felt as thought his life was meant for more. After losing his job due to "cutbacks", he found himself going from mediocre job to mediocre job, giving him this perspective on life...
"At any job, two things will always be true. You will always have to answer to some one else, and you will never truly be in control of your destiny or money making potential."

It was at this point he began to think of ways to escape the poverty and financial bindings that he saw so many of his family and friends falling victim to. So he began a life chasing the dream of being financially independent. It wasn't until a chance encounter with a local producer from Macon that JaLon realized that music could be his launching pad to escape the pit falls of life as an "independent pharmaceutical rep".
Tia Michelle was born and raised in Miami, Florida. "When I was 17, a friend dared me to try out for my high school’s biggest talent show/pageant. When I was called up I jumped on stage and without fear sang like I was singing in the shower. Once my song ended I looked out to a crowd of stunned onlookers who didn’t know my name much less that I could sing. Then slowly smiles begin to spread across each one of those stunned faces and whispers of “wow” seeped through the silence and that was the moment I knew I had something in me that I could share and in that moment I found my true purpose. SINGING. Oh yeah, I also went on the win that pageant."

After countless years of doing open mic's, showcases, and opening acts all over the southeastern US, both JaLon Blac and Tia Michelle came into contact with Chazzarri Tolbert (Producer / SongWriter for Hamtracks Productions) and Michelle Latimer (CEO of HamTrackz Productions) and everything seemed to change. Tia Michelle performed at events such as STRUT YOUR VOTE (Atlanta), and is a featured artist at the Taste of Indianapolis. JaLon Blac is a featured artist at the Savannah Urban Festival (April 21), and will be opening up for some artists. Both albums are available on iTunes and AmazonMP3.
